DRAKE'S BLUE BOTTLE IMPERIAL STOUT DEBUT / MEET THE BREWERS AND ROASTERS 

 

 As long-time fans of both Drake's and Blue Bottle Coffee, we are very excited to host the upcoming debut of their collaboration beer, Drake's Blue Bottle Imperial Coffee Stout. Drake's is the first ever brewery to collaborate with Blue Bottle (!), infusing whole coffee beans in the tanks for 3 weeks. We have tasted this beer and it is absolutely, knock-out gorgeous.

 

We will be the first bar to tap a keg of this highly anticipated beer, and the folks from Drake's and Blue Bottle will be hanging out at the bar to mark the occasion. We will also be tapping 3 other Drake's kegs that night, including an extremely limited, new keg of Mind Trick, a barrel-aged Sour Ale.  It is a Belgian-Style Triple aged in Chardonnay barrels for 3 years with Brett and a dose of Lacto, blended w/ a small amount of Honey Wheat aged in Cabernet barrels w/ a hint of Brett. Yes. Come be the first to taste this brew!

LAMB ROAST WITH CHEF DAVE CRUZ

 
We are still working out the details, but we are extremely excited to announce that Chef Dave Cruz, formerly of Ad Hoc, will be roasting a whole local spring lamb at The Trappist courtyard. The event will be open seating (just show up!); menu price is $25/pp, and will includes sides, as yet to be determined by the chef. We will also be featuring 3 beers on our outdoor Patio Bar to be paired with the dinner. Stay tuned for more details.

 POP-UP BEER DINNER WITH CHEF DAVE CRUZ
 
 
We will be featuring a 4-course Sunday supper-style collaboration dinner with beer pairings. The dinner will be held right next door at Tamarindo Restaurant, 468 8th St., Oakland, CA. It is a beautiful space and we are happy to be working with those we consider family. The dinner will be priced at $67/pp (inclusive of tax but not gratuity), and there will be two seatings at 5:30pm and 7:30pm, 30 people each.

About Chef Dave Cruz:
 
A veteran of Chef Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc Restaurant in Yountville, Chef Dave Cruz received his start in the culinary industry like many in the business - in college. While studying for his Engineering degree, Cruz worked in dining rooms to supplement his living expenses, and gained kitchen experience at some of New York's best restaurants, including March Restaurant, Mas (farmhouse) and Nobu.
 
Under Cruz's helm, Ad Hoc received a 3-star rating from the San Francisco Chronicle and was cited in the publication's annual list of "Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants." In collaboration with Keller, he co-authored "Ad Hoc at Home," a cookbook that included stories and favorite recipes from the restaurant. It won both James Beard and IACP awards and appeared on the New York Times Bestseller list for 7 weeks.
